Educational & Vocational Service

Educational and Vocational Service provides opportunities to assist young people in growing into mature and productive members of the community.  The following are examples of projects and programs that our club has been involved with:

  • Dollars For Scholars

  • Highline Community College Foundation

  • Elementary School Dictionary Program

  • Highline Schools For Excellence

  • Pacific Middle School After School Program

  • Cle Gunsel Foundation/Outbound Exchange Student Program

Community Service

Our Club members feel a strong and unified sense of purpose, which is demonstrated through commitment to our community. The following are central themes describing the Club's mission:

1) Provide Service to Community:

a. Youth: Programs , Scholarships, and Projects which benefit kids in our community (Examples: Homeless Youth District 5030, After School Program)

b. Seniors: Programs, Grants, and Projects which benefit the elderly in our community

c. Education: Partnering with Highline School District and Highline Community College to provide Grants, Scholarships, and support for our Students and Schools (Examples: Dollars for Scholars, HCC College Foundation, Dictionary Program)

d. Recreation: Projects and Grants to provide or improve recreational opportunities within our community (Examples: Des Moines Parks and Recreation Grants, Beach Park Clean Up)

2) Community Betterment:

A key mission for the Rotary Club of Des Moines is identifying and creating opportunities to invest in the overall quality of life for our community. There are several facets to this, including:

a. Building better communities and neighborhoods

b. Teamwork and collaboration

c. Physical improvements (Facilities, landscaping, art, etc)d. Providing opportunities for growth:
